11 months old update
In just one month Clementine will be 1..I will have a 1-year-old! If I am completely honest I find the idea of that terrifying. Thinking back to this time last year I was on maternity leave, watching Wimbledon and we didn’t have a bathroom in our flat as we decided that it would be an ideal time to get it re-done. That was probably the worst decision we ever made but at least it was done before she arrived and not after.
Over the last few months I’ve really noticed just how quickly Clem is growing and changing. She is developing a great sense of humour. If you cough she will cough back at you, she loves playing peekaboo and most things make her laugh. One of the biggest things that happened this month is she learnt that she has feet and legs and they help her to move. She’s had a walker for a while now but this month she actually realised what it’s for. She started off pushing it around, quite slowly at first and then quickly picking up speed. She’s been standing up for a while now, and last week when she was standing up holding on to the TV unit I asked her to walk to mummy and she did!! Well she took 4 steps and then fell down but ever since then there’s been no stopping her. At every opportunity she stands up and takes a few wobbly steps. So far the most she’s done is 8 which is amazing.
I find it incredible how in just 11 months she has gone from this tiny human who couldn’t do anything to this confident, funny little girl who babbles away to anyone who will listen, dances to any music she hears, crawls so fast she can get to the post quicker than I can and is now starting to walk. Her new favourite thing to do is to ‘help’ me load and unload the washing machine in which she takes out the dirty washing as I’m trying to put it in the machine.
She had her 9-12 month check up with the health visitor recently and she is doing great. Unbelievably I am still breastfeeding her, which is something I am incredibly proud of. After all the problems we had right at the beginning I am glad I didn’t give up trying. I do plan to write a separate post on our journey of breastfeeding so I won’t go into too much detail here. I understand breastfeeding is a subject that divides opinions and creates discussion so it deserves its own post. She’s eating well, and likes most things we give her.
We are busy planning Clementines first birthday which will hopefully be a visit to North Devon to see nanny and granny and go to the beach. I can’t wait.
