A weekend away at Hartpiece Farm

We are very lucky because Clementine’s grandfather owns and runs a rather lovely holiday let in North Devon. It’s booked up for most of the year but just after Christmas and the New Year it’s pretty quiet so for the second year running we have been lucky enough to go and stay there. It’s a lovely place called Hartpiece Farm and it’s situated just outside of Barnstaple which is where we are both from so we have a lot of family and friends still down there.

As long as the weather is good the views are lovely, you can see right out over the estuary and the sea. We spent the weekend celebrating birthdays, eating lots of cake and going on walks.

The main reason we went away was to celebrate Clems uncles 18th birthday and her dads birthday which is at the end of the week. We had a great time seeing family and catching up with everyone. The holiday lets are ideal for family get togethers, and they even have a hot tub and sauna which was nice to relax in. The cake was amazing, Clems uncle has a sweet tooth as you can probably tell just by looking at it! We are extremely lucky to have a very talented baker in the family, I’ve mentioned it before but Clems aunty to be works at Cloud 9 in Brighton. Seriously their cakes are amazing, if you are in the area and need a cake for any occasion then check them out.

Although we were only there for the weekend it was nice to relax and get away for a few days. The fresh air did us all some good, our colds are gone and on the way back home we started talking about when we should go away again!hot tub time

Thanks. I love North Devon, it’s really pretty and makes a change from London. The cake was chocolate on the inside as well, yum!

Just came across this blog post. My mother used to live at Hartpiece with her many brothers and sisters. Hartpiece was then owned by her mother and father, Thomas Reed and his wife, (my Gran and Grandad). I loved this place and wish that it was still in our family. My mother and her siblings spent a very happy childhood there.
